Funny that this is one of my favourite etudes, if not the favourite! Though it might be because I don't play pieces of this level since I've only been learning piano with a teacher for 1 year. I like listening to this etude. It is very lively, like one of the names it's been given, and with your analysis it helps to understand the piece to appereciate it more!

The coda is truly disturbing with its tritones and falling chromatism. It could be the perfect soundtrack to a Jewish massacre in an eerie Polish forest during World War II. Chopin's sound world is very often dark and deeply mournful.

Thanks for an amazing rendition of this classic! Christian Sinding was an incredibly gifted and prolific composer and his piano music outside of Frühlingsrauschen deserves more attention. If you'd ever do a proper recording of the entire opus 32 you'd have a world premiere. You'd have a world premiere as well if you'd find a violinist and cellist and record his 1st piano trio. Most of Sinding's music is excellent and too little of it has yet been recorded. Pretty sure that record labels like Naxos would be interested in releasing a possible Sinding piano trio no.1 recording.

Desde mi admiración i respeto Sr Greg N , considero ariesgado adivinar los sentimientos que puede provocar este nocturno . En mis 72 años no he escuchado música más bella i triste al mismo tiempo , una música en la que ves a Chopin a la luz de la luna tosiendo sangre , sentir la muerte i las ganas de vivir , llorando , como el oyente , i protestando por tanta injusticia . También arriesgado valorar la madurez intelectual de un genio aunque tanta tristeza a los 17 años , hace dudar . Discúlpeme si no puedo aceptar la com 35:55 35:55 paración con la pintura al ser ésta una plamación subjetiva de la realidad i la música creación pura del pensamiento cuando se posa sobre el sonido . De todas maneras esos 5 min de este nocturno dan para toda una vida . Agradecidísimo por dedicar su valuoso tiempo .

That’s right, it is the end of your commission, your mission! I am happy to play this piece with this in mind, I finally think I have memorized hands together, with a little bit of hesitancy, but I don’t need to look at the music, it’s in my head. It’s not up to tempo and there are wrinkles as the structure was confusing me a bit (parts are similar, but different )but I think I have that straightened out. It’s a great little piece, full of hope. I have been learning your way, memorizing hands separately and then together and it’s a lot of work but well worth it. I’d be curious to see how that works on a piece that isn’t so uniform. Thanks for all your great tips. I put them to good use Greg. 💚💚💚🎹🎹🎹 I think it took me two months to memorize this. I’m so slow.
